After several years as a sales representative and buyer in the Cycle industry, Basil acquired his first taste of the hardware retail market when he started managing an industrial adhesives factory in Cape Town.

Prior to joining Swifts in 2001, Basil's dedication, integrity and strong communication skills helped him to rise through the ranks in the industry to become the National Sales Manager for a rival organisation.

Appointed as a Director in 2005, Basil cites helping to start the EDGE brand and grow it into a recognised and preferred brand in the retail market as one of the highlights of his industrious career.

A 'people person' and family man at heart, Basil is inspired, entertained and motivated by his four very different and uniquely individual sons.
